Back from the weekend and into another week

Would've put this up earlier but for some reason I couldn't reach Blogger.com for a few days. Who knows?

Anyway, last weekend was spent in Memphis at MidSouthCon. It was very nice to escape the harsh grind of my day job and go enjoy writing panels held by authors and publishers. I got to meet one of the founders of MeishaMerlin Publishing - a nice guy named Stephen Pagel - and talk with him at length about PublishAmerica, writing and publishing in general. It was disheartening and refreshing all at once. But he did confirm that PublishAmerica isn't quite on the up and up with writers. Oh well. I'll be more careful next time. Aside from that, he did give me some very valuable advice on submitting manuscripts and how to handle shady publishers / editors.

Beyond that, when time permits I'm moving quickly along with Kinloch 2 and working out the next Spartika City story I'm calling "Cold Case". Cold Case has a good flow and comfortable feel to it. I'm hoping I can get some milage there as a short story. If fortune is with me, I'll have Cold Case done and edited within a few weeks.
