By the Numbers
Well been back from my Chicago vacation for a few weeks... my day job is still messed up. You know its bad when senior management cannot agree on what the company does. Some say "we make a product" (which is a lie, we don't, we make web sites. Don't believe me? Ask in detail what an eBrochure is or what the "components" are).. others of them say "We do data mining" (also untrue, just ask them what data and make sure you've got your galoshes on). There are others but those are my personal favorites. Anyway, as Dragon Con is coming up I'm stalling but after DCon I think I'll look at my options available to me very closely.
Had lunch with a friend of mine today. Former co-worker who was blessed with being let go from the particular politcal 3 ring circus I work in (15 people in a business should not have the politics of a company of 300... sorry small rant over)... to that in case he's reading... *waves* hey Lee!
He's happier now, and I'm glad for him. He's a good guy, he didn't deserve the cramdown he got. I was going to tell him a few others things at lunch, but lunch is only an hour so another time I suppose.
On to the writing department.. Cold Case is out to a ePublisher.. hopefully they buy it. Response Time is out to a magazine, they've got it and so far its standing a good chance of a being bought so my hopes are still up on that one. In the meantime, I'm working on Kinloch 2. The initial pass is done, now I'm into the chapter by chapter edits. Its pretty smooth. Still needs a good title but I'll think of something.
I think the most interesting thing about writing is that its a lot like assembling something, but with the twist that it has to be pleasing to the mind's eye. Not unlike being an architect in a way. I was thinking that yesterday at lunch when I finished polishing chapter 1 again for the 5th or so time.
Well.. wasted enough time. Guess I'll do something to appear productive until I can go home for the day.
