On being bushwhacked

Ok, I really do think people trust *not* to be ambushed at work. I prefer to call it bushwhacked. For example, I was told to make a design.. get done only to be informed of *new* information that was known about the whole time.. and I should have been told about it before I started because it sends the software in a totally different direction. On top of that, my manager just absolutely cannot let go of anything he delegates to people. Put the two together.. its a train wreck. I just went through that yesterday. The fallout comes today.. *rolls eyes* .. wastes time.

But a good friend came to my rescue .. he almost can be called a disgruntled aerospace engineer! I'm sure you've seen those cheesy 'employee motivational posters' that couldn't motivate cheese to mold. Well this is a 'musical motivational poster' that is downright effective! motivational music!

Its a tad Not For Work Safe, but if you keep the volume down you'll probably be ok, its a short tune.

Now.. I've had some requests to see a large version of the cover for Cold Case... well here you go:

Cold Case Cover

Still waiting for Ingram to update their database and that hit amazon and others. I distract myself with working on my other manuscripts ( Kinloch 2, a couple of short stories, notes on a new Spec Ops update.. and so on..) When it does make it there, I'll be kicking it hard to get some marketing done.

New Manuscript!!

Ok, not much on the workfront... worth talking about anyway. BUT ... I took the plunge and used lulu.com as my means to publish "Cold Case", now I know its "self publishing" which is a foul phrase for many but these days I don't see it being that bad. Many writers have self-publishes and many do still. While I don't have the credentials of say like Diane Duane, but I'm curious enough to try it.

SO.. got my proof copy in last friday.. it looks *fantastic*. I adore how the fonts look and the cover is very nice! Given Ingram updates their database once a month, it'll be later this month or next month before it appears on Amazon and others at least. But until then, Lulu.com's storefront carries it (naturally)... http://stores.lulu.com/writer_by_night

Pardon the plainness of the storefront, I've not figured out a theme yet. I'll be figuring one out this week to make the storefront look better. But I'll be adding a "buy now" link to my blog and maybe a few other sites too.

Once I know its in Ingram, I'll be hitting up Barnes and Nobles for a book signing.. hopefully I'll get in with them.

Time does fly, it just doesn't land well

Been a bit since I blogged. Biggest news is Dragon Con (which is always over Labor day in atlanta) has come and gone. It was a fun con overall, some down points which I won't go into here. But it was a stress break. Felt like myself again.

Work was waiting when I returned... I just love how taking a vacation is a double edged sword. You need the time away but when you come back all that ..'stuff' gets so piled up you burn yourself out catching back up. Just doesn't seem right to me all in all.

Anyway, I'm going to try and build up a readership for 'Cold Case'. That manuscript is going through lulu.com, I'll do some marketing and if I can get the numbers up enough, I'll hit agents with it then. From what I understand, once you show that you've got the fanbase, you at least get their attention. So we'll see.
