End of the weekend

As soon as it started, it ended. Sadly, it was over far too soon. See and helping relatives is nice, but the peace of mind ... The calm... It was priceless. There was so much silence, so much lack of noise. No constant prodding from my to do list for my attention. It was nice, but no moment like that is permanent. So today I'm returning to the broader stretch of urbanization, work and the waiting to so list.

At least I have the memory of standing on the stone deck, the wind blowing through the trees and off the lake. The leaves and pine needles stirring around me, circulating lazily on invisible hands.

Good memory.

Dinner on Saturday

Spent the day with the family, extended family. It's a bittersweet moment. On one hand, it's heartwarming, being around family I've not seen for months, in some cases - years. The bitter side is seeing the passage of years, and remembering those that are no longer with us.

Afterwards, we ended it with a nice meal at a lakeside steak and rib place.

Next morning

It's overcast this morning, heavy with the faithful promise of rain. Not a heavy downpour, but a gentle soothing rain that massages away the mind of knotted thoughts.

View from the restaurant

Stopped for dinner at a place called Sinclair's Kowaliga's restaurant. They even have one of the two original Kowaliga wooden statue!

We sat out on the deck with the rain tapping out a staccato tune on the tin roof overhead. The wind was blowing in gently, almost a soft breath from the rain clouds above.

Very small trip

Heading off for a weekend trip down south off Lake Martin. I've been there once but it was a day trip. This time I'll be overnight there. Hopefully, I'll get my head clear and mind centered. I need the mental break I think.
